As the first post on this particular blog I'd like to address a few basic thoughts regarding the career as a Property Manager. Being only a few months into this field, I have found profound opportunities to impact property value as well as the lives of resident individuals and families. These blog posts are meant as a log from the perspective "on the ground."
I came into property management from a career list of varied industries both domestic and abroad. Only a very few offered the kind of magnitude to affect lives on a personal level as did the position of Property Manager. Currently I am serving my second area - right here in the greater Des Moines area. In both, the opportunity as Property Manager in Lincoln, Nebraska and now in central Iowa, has provided a daily increase of knowledge.
Especially for someone new in the field a daily dose of the job can be extremely uncomfortable. The weight of responsibility the position mandates can be overwhelming. Those responsibilities and duties will be delved into in coming posts. Nevertheless, the benefits and positive results are equally as profound.
No.... if you want to be rich then property management is not the field for you. However, if you have the seasoned stamina, and desire something more than buying something for $5 and reselling it for $100, than consider property management as a legitimate pursuit to enhance the lives of others as well as yourself.
